🪄 HOW TO USE THIS DATABASE

Booking Base is a ✨new project✨ that builds tools for actors everywhere - from newbie to seasoned vet. This audition monologue database is great for theatre auditions or sourcing new self-tape material.

Our goal is to log thousands of audition pieces ( +1,000 to be exact), all searchable in a snap and updated continuously. In addition to media, title, author, and premiere date (some of the best monologues come from books!), each monologue is searchable on:

Period (classical, classicalish, modern, contemporary)

Genre (thriller/ mystery, dark comedy, farce, comedy, dramedy, drama, melodrama, tragedy, satire)

Age (from 14-60+ years of age)

Gender (female identifying, male identifying, or a part that could be played by either)

Archetype (13 “types” used as short hand for the type of character you want to play - see below)

🔒 Popularity (aka whether casting directors think it’s a 💤 — this feature is locked for now)

I made this free demo to get feedback from you actors like you. 🚨 Tell me whether you love or hate it in this 2 minute survey. 🚨

🎭 THE ARCHETYPES

For those of you looking to flex a new type or build out your current repertoire, we’ve categorized each monologue as one of 13 storytelling archetypes.

These archetypes go beyond “ingenue,” “leading man,” or “character actor.” These 13 types pull from (mostly) Jungian psychology and are frequently employed by writers in every genre. Each piece is labeled under the “Archetypes” section, as well as an emoji in the monologue’s title for quick reference.

Explore the archetypes below:

Notes:

*Archetypes are distinct from actor type, having more to do with the character’s role in the narrative structure.
